Princess, meet Time Out!!

Rissa has been a naughty little Princess lately! Several weeks ago, I was sweeping the back porch. Rissa had made her way up the yard, following along side the pool gate. Next thing I know, I heard a loud thud. I look straight down the length of the gate and see her little body on one side and her arms and nose poking in between and through to the other side. I watch as she then, bent over, grunts and pushes this huge (compared to her tiny hands!) rock. Roll, roll, roll....PLOP! Right into the pool it goes...And in the deep end, at that! Then I see her little arms fly up in the air and a 'newly learned' (from daddy),WWoooHOoooooo!!! Came blasting out of her mouth as she laughed a wicked little laugh!! Over the next day, every chance she got, she was throwing rocks onto the cool deck and into the pool. Oh buddy, It didn't stop there, either! Max's doggie toys, his brush, his bones, Jacob's car's -any and everything she could get in there when I wasn't looking ....the funny thing about it is how she would hide things from me in shirt or under her arm, and then watch me. The SECOND I turned around...sploosh! and then the wicked laugh would come rolling out like thunder! Throughout this process, she met a little friend, I like to call, TIME OUT!! She became QUITE GOOD FRIENDS with Time Out. She will sit on her T.O. step for the full ONE MINUTE and won't even think about getting up. When she does get up, she's right back to her little TORNADO self!! I've gotten all of the rocks pushed into a pile on the floor of the pool, but it's hard and a pain to get them out. I thought about pulling out the boys bodysuits, but even though we're wearing shorts, the water is still way too cold. She turns two in three months....I can't wait til I can officially add another minute to her time out!! All the rocks just match the dirt that's in the bottom, but here are a few pictures of her naughtiness:
A nice little collection over probably a few days. Everyday after school, she looks forward to spending time with her brothers in the backyard. I leave the door open and the second I hear the rocks hit the bars...or the water...to Time Out she goes! Looking at the amount of stuff in the pool you can figure she's been in T.O. a lot! Consistency right?...when does being consistent really pay off anyway? My boys would have stopped doing it a long time ago.
I took this one night that we were grilling out. You can see her little hands on the bars....little booger!
Jacob asked me if he could get in and to grab the rocks on the Baja Step. That water is COLD!! Thanks for your help Jacob!

Suns Game

Our friends, the Chou's, invited us to go to the Suns game with them this past Friday night. We had such a great time! We went out to dinner first, and then straight to the game. They have Awesome seats, just a few rows from the floor, which made for a great view of the game and players! Thanks Shelly and Kent!!
Marty & I right after the game. Suns won the game with 140 points!! What a fun game it was!
I fell in love with Shaq! He's hilarious! He threw down a few slam dunks and would stomp around or do some silly gesture!
After the game, we were all walking back to the car...well, running to keep up with Kent (LOL for anyone who knows him!!) and Marty kept saying, "I swear Shaq kept looking right at me! I'd cheer for him and he'd look right at me, every time!".
"Marty", I said, "that's because his WIFE was sitting directly in front of you!".
"What do you mean his wife was sitting in front of me?!" he says. I then went on to explain to him that the little black woman (and all of the other family members) that was sitting in front oh him was the woman he was married to! Shelly had told me but Kent didn't tell Marty, so He was a little disappointed that Shaq wasn't acknowledging his cheers, but then really thrilled that his wife had turned around a few times and made a few funny comments about this crazy fan above us who kept yelling stuff out.
Here's Bigfoot himself! He's HUGE! He could squish that little towel boy like a bug!
This is yet another, "Where's Kent?" photo!! I'm gonna have to add this to the collection! The first thing Kent said to me when we all got in the car was, "Tiff, you know that's the wrong shade of Purple, don't you?!". (LOL) At half time the guys went to the Suns Store and bought a bunch of $5 shirts and hats....now I have correct Purple to wear!!

A Photo Shoot of Emotions....

So Brant & I love to goof off with the camera and laugh together as we look at the results!! Tonight during our Mom/Brant time b/f bed, we decided to take EMOTION photo's!! Here are tonight's result's:

Space Derby

So the boys SCOUT Troop hosted a Space Derby!! This is what their Space Ships started out as...a block of wood with a hole in the middle! Actually, two halves, which I first glued together!
I don't even know how long it took me to Shave and Sand it! You can see that the Potato Peeler idea just wasn't "cutting" it, so I had to pull out the big guns...my handy dandy Pampered Chef self sharpening knife!!! That sucker worked like a charm!!!
When the boys got home from school, they did they final sanding on their ships and then came the fun part...
Painting them!!! Brant named his "Turd". Not the most polite of names, but under the circumstances, it was kind of fitting! I thought Turd turned out awesome! He did a great job!
Jacob knew from the start what he wanted...a Shark...with Teeth! He was so excited about this, that the night before, he drew out his design plans on paper so it would be precise!
Here's a close-up...a blurry close-up--of the TEETH. RRRRaaaaaahhhh!

Marty helping the boys mount their Ships on the line. It took a little while before everyone really got the hang of this race.
Brant's first race he did awesome! He got second place!! Way to go Turd!! LOL:)
Brant & Jacob & Kaleb raced each other in this race! Bro Evans held Brant's while I held Jacob's...Bishop Clifford was on the other side holding Kaleb's.
Jacob got first place in this one! Yeah Shark!! The kids had a great time. These events are always a good way to teach the kids about Sportsmanship!! (Jacob got a little upset a few times...it can be stressful to not win every time:)

A Valentine's Day to Remember

Daddy got Lots of Kisses on Valentine's Day!!!

Marty sent my favorite bouquet to me for Heart Day...TuLipS and iRis'!!! Marty got his favorite...Monster Floats!! We got him a case of Monsters and a tub of Rainbow Sherbet Ice Cream..yum, yum!! ...this would be a Marty & Peter invention!!!

A special thanks to Brant, Jacob & Marissa for our special gift! We came home the other night from a date to find that while we were gone, Brant orchestrated a grand surprise for us! He got Jacob and Rissa to help make a card and then found a couple of beautiful Tulips and a vase (hhmmmm I wonder where those tulips could have come from?) I LOVED it!! It's always fun to come home to Good surprises!!!

The kids enjoyed their goodies from Marty & I ... They ate the treats so fast that I didn't snap any pictures, but we also gave them a few other things, including, Madagascar 2 and we've all watched it twice, so I think it was a hit!! We also love doing little acts of kindness for each other during this Holiday...hopefully we can keep that going throughout the year!! :)

Rissa loves playing with Daddy's wedding band. I just liked this picture and wanted to throw it in on this post!

So our REservations at Outback kinda got botched, so we ended up at this hole-in-the wall! The BEST hole-in-the wall EVER!!! Holy Cow the food was good!!
Allyson & Peter...they just came for the Margaritas! LOL just kidding...all Peter really wanted was the Cinnomon Crispy's!
We just wanted the chips & salsa!!
And Kevin just wanted Amy....................................................
.................................Until he saw this Hot Tamale!!!!!

I didn't get Jeni & Sam's picture with the Tamale for some reason, but they were there for the Beans...if you know what I mean:) ( I'm glad I have such awesome friends that can joke around with me!) Thanks guys for a great time!

Mom, We Can't Forget Our Teacher's!!!

Yesterday the boys bolted through the front door when Autumn dropped them off from school!! They were so excited to be home and without even a thought, started asking about making Valentine Cards for their classroom parties. Before I even got the door shut, Jacob had the list of all of his classroom friends out of his backpack and a pencil in hand! Brant, being older and wiser, had his list memorized! That kept them busy for a good part of the afternoon, which was nice b/c I still had a lot of baking to do for Valentine orders. After cleaning up from dinner, Brant so lovingly reminded me that he really wanted to take all of his teacher's a Valentine Gift. I think he could look at my face and see that my thoughts were saying, "Ok- what are we going to make for all of his and Jacob's teachers?"! With that he paused and then said, "Mom, you know what they all like!! Can we just make them a bunch of PEANUT BUTTER BARS?...except, we need to be sure to put alot of chocolate frosting on them b/c they all love CHOCOLATE!!". I always make their teacher's goodies, but I have been really busy with my SweetTooth business this week, so I just got a little side tracked and forgot. I really appreciate that Brant is such a thoughtful, loving kid! He's fun to be with and best of all...he still lets me snuggle with him from time to time!! I'm glad he didn't forget his teachers and reminded me of them!!
So these are the goody plates. Rissa and I spent time making tags and a few cards this morning. I just used what I had here at home, but I think they would've looked awesome on BLACK plates!

Pay It Forward

You may have seen this on other blogs - you sign up to receive something homemade and crafty, and then you pay it forward by doing the same thing for 3 people who sign up to do it on your blog.

So here’s how it works:

1. Be one of the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post and I will send you a handmade gift sometime in the next 3 months.
2. You get to pay it forward as well by doing the same thing for 3 people on your blog.
3. Once you leave a comment telling me that you want to participate, you need to make a pay it forward post on your blog within one day.
4. No gift requests. The gift I make and send to you will be made totally at my discretion! It will be made specifically for you by inspiration:) (heehee...better watch out!!).

So, anyone game?

Fairytale in the making

My good friend, Jeni, did the cutest post on Rissa and Parker!! SSSoooo, I stole the whole post from her to have on our family blog!! Thanks, Jeni!!!

Once upon a time there was a little Princess named Marissa. She was a fiery little sprite who LOVED to sprinkle the Kingdom with cereal and crayons. Prince Parker, from a neighboring Kingdom, would often come over to play while the Queens worked their royal booties off (hopefully literally...he he). The Prince and Princess could often be seen sitting on the steps enjoying a snack together.

One day, during a normal visit, Princess Marissa sweetly gave Prince Parker a hug.

"Woa!!" thought Prince Parker. "Now's my chance to try my sweet skills".
Prince Parker made his move. It did not go well.

Prince Parker went home that night to sit on his throne and read a book to try and get some inspiration on how to win the fair Princess Marissa's heart.

A mischievous laugh escaped him as he devised a plan that would surely work!

Princess Marissa was unable to deny it any longer and finally accepted the Prince's affection.

Will it be happily ever after?????????????????????

Thanks Jeni, I LOVE IT!!! --But hey, do you mind if I take it just a bit further? Let us look into the minds of this young Prince and Princess, Shall We?.....

[Try #1-The Communication Tactic:...it is proper for a young Price to ask the Beautiful Princess for Permission to kiss her....]
Prince Parker: "Oh, Please, please Princess Rissa! Won't thou grant me just one small kiss?"
Princess Rissa: "Thine kiss I have for thee shall NOT be shared, lest my FATHER shall smite thee!" (translation: Boy! You better get those lips away from me!~ If my dad saw you kiss me, he'd put you in time out!)

[Try #2-Non-Communication Tactic. ...just take a leap of faith, Little Prince! Kiss her, no need to ask, just kiss her!']

Thoughts from Prince Parker: ..hhhmmm..I shall make my advances without any eye contact. If I can just rest mine eyes upon the ceiling, maybe the fair Princess would welcome to a kiss from such a grand Prince as I!
Thoughts from Princess Rissa: WEll...he is so handsome!

...ya know, in a few years we'd get in trouble for this...

I Taught RS Today...

Today was my Sunday to teach in RS. I LOVE teaching!! Maybe it's because I like to talk a lot, or maybe it's just because it gives me a break from those precious little cuties in Nursery :). Well, in either respect, I am truly grateful for this calling!...I am truly grateful for both of my callings!!
So today I taught a lesson that I really struggled with. It was probably the hardest lesson I've had to teach in the past two-and-a-half years that I've been a teacher. I felt inadequate in teaching the given lesson and by the time it was over, I felt like I had stumbled through a lot of it.
I am so thankful for the spiritual growth that I have gained from teaching today! Although it was a hard lesson for me, I feel some inner growth. I love the teachings of Joesph Smith! I love the sisters that support me. I love how they always help bring the Spirit in our meetings. I'm grateful for 'growth moments' like this. I'm humbled by them and feel thankful for them. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I'm so thankful for a Heavenly Father who loves me.
