Marty's Dad Passed Away

Marty's Dad passed away last Friday, May 23, 2008 at 4:10am. We left Friday to go to Utah and returned this Wednesday night. To make what could be a very long story, short, things didn't turn out quite like we all had planned! Put it this way, by Monday night, about a third of the family was unable to attend Dad's Viewing because of a 'throwing up' virus and then by Tuesday, maybe, oh, half of the family was unable to attend Dad's funeral. Making matters worse, Mom was one of those unable to attend! She was so bad off that she was admitted into the hospital, where she will be for a few more days. There were other things going on from the beginning, Myron stuck in Cincinnati for a day or two- trying to get home, a niece and nephew traveling to NY and witnessing a tornado (not sure which state they were in) right in front of them, Jacob car sick off and on for 4 hours on our drive up to Utah....there was lots of excitement all around!! We did, amongst all of this, have some fun with the family though! Sunday after church everyone headed out to Marty's cousin, Wally Joyner's, Ranch. That was tons of fun - four-wheeling, petting all of their animals (including their newborn cult) and watching their competition horses jump hurdles and all. As you can see, I'm not in any pictures b/c I'm at 'home' with a sick little Marissa who was throwing up at the time :). We had lots of laughs and fun and we also shared tears at our family meetings as we tried to detail the plans for Dad's funeral. I am so grateful for Marty's family! I love them and am so thankful that they have such a love for the Gospel! It really was so nice to all be together again...be it well or sick! Alot of memories as well as "Growth Moments" (as Marty and I call them) were made.
The most awesome thing about his funeral was the 21 Gun Salute! It was a beautiful service and We all felt so honored and proud of our Dad! Marty's oldest sibling, Janell, accepted the flag in Mom's behalf. As hard as it was to say "goodbye", it was a relief to see that he was no longer in pain! He was loved by many and will be truly missed! "Til we meet again, Dad, Til we meet again!" We'll Love you always!!(Marty's Dad Loved Alabama, so this weeks #1 song on my playlist is by them!)Oh and P>S>--Don't ask Jacob about his egg that he has in the picture!...after getting back to Janell's house, he was holding it, waiting for it to hatch, and he accidentally popped his thumb into it! He was so crushed and upset that he "killed his little baby chicken", that he later announced to the entire family that he had to leave tomorrow b/c he didn't take care of his egg! ...yeah, I think maybe we shouldn't bring that one back up.

Princes & Princesses Party!

So last week I hosted a Prince/Princess Party at my house for 6 beautiful Princesses and 2 handsome Princes! All eight babies were born within about a 3 month period. It was so much fun! Here are a few picts. I had my friend, Amy, come over and take some professional pictures! She set her backdrop up in our front room and then also took picts out back of them eating their cakes! Can't wait to get those pict's!! I'll post those when I get them! I Love IT!!

We decided to head outside for cake when Prince Mack took a nose dive off the ottoman!

The six beautiful Princesses

Rissa & Hannah
Hannah: "Why do we have to wear these stiff, pokey dresses, anyway?"
Rissa: "Who the heck cares...just as long as they keep taking pictures of us...after all, we are Princesses, are we not?!"

Joe, Rowan, Marissa, Regan, Sara, Mack & Hannah (Bailey had to leave early)

Rowan turned Rissa's back into a Masterpiece!!

Regan: "So what exactly do we do with this stuff?"
Rissa: "Watch the pro, I'll show ya!"

My Mother's Day Was Great Too!!

I just wanted to let ya'll know that I had a great Mother's Day too!! Everyone has posts about it but me, so I am going talk a little about my Mom's Day! Friday Marty & the kids delivered roses to me around lunch time. Then, Sunday morning started off with breakfast in bed. My breakfast consisted of a bagel w/cream cheese, OJ, banana, yogurt and a box of Whoppers (my all time fav)!! Of coarse, the kids hung around to 'snuggle' in bed after I ate, but I know that they were eyeing the Whoppers the entire time! Don't you just love how lovey-dovey and sweet your kids can be when there's something yummy that "mommy might share"! I love it!! So of coarse, we all shared Whoppers and snuggled while they each gave me the gifts they had gotten me (thanks guys!! They really did good this year!)
Church was amazing!! I really felt the Spirit and I swear that I cried probably three times in RS!! My friend Jenny had taken tons of pictures of all of us RS sisters and put them all on a CD with music (awesome job Jenny!!) and during the lesson we all watched it. I cried a couple of times during this video just b/c I have such a love and appreciation for everyone of the women that were in it! They are such wonderful friends! Friends that are outstanding mothers and wives, friends that at one time or another have helped carry some of my burdens, friends that have risen above trials and come out better and stronger for it! Friends that just make me happy! I get support and positive feedback from them and I just feel so thankful to have them in my life! I'm thankful that the Lord chose me to be a woman, wife and above all, a Mother! I have had a few Mother's Day's that were kinda crappy b/c of miscarriages and I look back and am so thankful for such a wonderful, loving husband! He and I have had our share of 'trials' and with each one we've grown closer. He is my best friend and I love him so much! I look at our children and I feel so blessed! Sometimes I feel so inadequate! I'm so proud of their accomplishments and growth! I'm thankful for a mother that taught me well and who continues to teach me. I have learned not to take motherhood for granted. It is such a blessing and gift and I'm thankful that Heavenly Father entrusted these beautiful children into our care.

Marissa's Secret Hiding Spot

Several weeks ago we realized that our "Binkie" (AKA: Paci, Choopy, Mouth Plug...the list goes on) supply had gone from about 8 or 9 to 1...and at one point we couldn't even keep track of that 1 that was left! In fact, for FHE one night, our family activity consisted of a 'Binkie Search' around the house-looking through all of the couch cushions, in every corner, under beds in closets as well as a thourogh investigation of both cars! The results were unbelievable!! ONE BINKIE was all we could find!! At that moment, all eyes turned to our precious little gem...Marissa. Where was she hiding the BINKIE's? ...and how long would it take us to find them??

"What? I'm not going anywhere...esp not my secret hiding spot."

the slip-up

One day it occured to me...my dad is a PI (Private Investigator)with many "tools" to help 'track' things down. So I did what any PI would do-I put a tracking device on Ms. Marissa's little gas guzzler! I followed her and followed her. She was quite precise, never making a single false move...until finally!! A slip-up!!!...

BUSTED little girl!!The gig is up!! The hole in the speaker!!! Should've known it!!

These are some of the items that she had stashed. We found a total of 7 Binkies, a couple of cars, golf ball and several other items that have been "missing in action"!! I wonder where her next secret hidding place will be...until next time, this is PI MOM--over & out!

Happy 10th Birthday Brant!!

Brant celebrated his BIG 10th birthday with a sleepover party!! Boy was that an experience!! We seriously didn't get much sleep, but it really was a lot of fun!! This was a bit different for me I must say! At girl sleep over's we'd...I don't know...do our hair, make-up and outfits all funky and run around the neighborhood or something...freeze each others bra's during the night and maybe call cute boys and laugh and giggle. BOYS?! Well, let's just make a Top 5 List out of it!!:
#5--They turn your hallway into a "Pitching Practice" strip (orig founded by Marty & Brant who decided to share this with all party goers)
#4--They are unable to resist the attraction they have with your trampoline that has springs missing due to it's age (and from 4 years of our summer sun)! Since it's "in the plans to be taken down anyway, Brant, Tyler & Jacob show them how they discovered they could "help" in the cause. Three of them sit on the part of the tramp that droops down b/c of lack of springs (kind of like a cozy little swing), while the others jump and on count of three plop to their butts and POP! There goes yet another spring!! I know this sounds like a dangerous and irresponsible thing for me, the mother, to let them do...but #1--I was watching them do it! and #2--I made them stop after two springs flung into neighbors yards & the one flung completely over our house, hitting the roof just above the bay window in the front, rolling down and falling into the flower bed!!..I really should've gotten a picture!darn! and in all seriousness, I am glad a window didn't break or a kid get hit by a flying spring!
#3--The bathroom toilet!!..well, if you have experienced how bad it gets with one or two boys..just imagine six!! Nothing more to say.
#2--They Fart!!...everywhere they go, they Fart!! I even gave one party goer, (who shall remain annonymous for sake of embarrassment to his mother)..uuhhhhmmmmm...ty..ler...a brand new can of air freshener to carry around with him so the rest of us didn't have to suffer anymore!
#1--Instead of Freezing Bra's they get deoderant and smear it across the victims (any poor soul who might have given in to his body's need to sleep and dozed off for any amount of time!) upper lip!!

The kids loved getting in the pool...all three or four times (including around 7:30Sat morning)!! It was quite entertaining to watch them play the contests and games they came up with!

We ordered our favorite pizza's with Ranch Crust for dinner!!!

So Zack decided to hit the pinata so hard that he broke the hanger off the top. That was just a little road block for these baseball players!! They decided they wanted Marty to "pitch" it to them...and so that's what they did!! It actually worked so well that we might just make that tradition!!

While some boys practiced Guitar Hero these three decided to make a pyramid...and yes, those two pictures that 'look like they're going to fall', FELL!..No broken glass or frames though so it's all good!

Rissa Loved being "center of attention"!...or so she thought she was!!

Brant was so excited about all of his gifts that he received!! He ended up with a TON of cash!..sports cards, trick balls...(baseballs) and few other things from friends-and we got him a Ripstick...which was all he wanted from us for his bday!! It's similar to a skate board except that each end of the board flexes and twists with movement of your foot so it's crazy to try and balance on! Nontheless, within a day of practice, practice, practice! Brant had it mastered!! Now he's giving Marty lessons!
Our thanks go out to all six boys who so earnestly contributed their creative energies in to coming up with new and inventive ways to take a trampoline apart, finish off a broken pinata and who thought of funny, sneeky things to do to those who "dared to fall asleep"!! til next time, boys, Peace Out!!

Busy, Busy Week!!

Ok-So I'm FINALLY able to sit down and blog a little bit!! This past week has been super busy and crazy!! Let's see...in the past week we've had two baseball games and practice, Brant's sleepover birthday party, Brant's b-day cupcakes at school, Marissa first had Slap-Cheek Syndrome (Fifths Disease)-got better and now having Nebulizer treatments to clear up the Croop (all the while she's cutting teeth as well!..one of which is a moler tooth! poor thing!)so I've had her at the DR's office a couple of times, and really--I can't really even think of the other stuff that has kept me away from blogging this week...babysitting a couple of times (including triplets!)...squeeze in some exercise..oh-and trying to prepare my RS lesson for Sunday---but anyway, it's all good! I mean, that's the kind of stuff we mom's do, right?! And really in all honesty, I wouldn't trade any of it...even the crappy times when your kids are screaming their heads off at you or they're sick or when they're teething for FOREVER and for like a solid year they have loose BM's b/c of it!!...even those...well, maybe I would trade the BM part, but ya'll know what I mean! I LOVE being a mom!! I love our children, so much and feel so blessed to have them in my life! There is such great purpose in families! And I'm just so greatful for the hand that the Lord has in our lives! Here are some pictures of some of our events from this past week. I'll do a whole seperate post for Brant's sleepover though!! (And boy was that a blast!...Never been to a BOY'S sleepover before!)...that will be the next post to come!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Brant got to pitch in one of the games this week. He's really enjoying learning and getting practice with it! He's doing a great job and I love watching him and the team play! It's also fun to have Marty out there as one of the coaches!! Brant and Tyler--Ya'll're doing a GREAT Job!! Keep it up!! GO REDS!! (I don't why Brant had to have 'goofy eyes in these picts!)
